What is FIRO®?

FIRO (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation), developed by psychology professor Will Schutz, offers comprehensive insight into the needs individuals have in relation to others. This tool is ideal for helping people build positive workplace relationships, enhance self-awareness, and support effective team development.

Do I need specialist knowledge of psychometric tools?

You do not need prior experience with psychometric tests to become certified in FIRO. The ideal background is documented experience as a consultant, trainer, adviser, process consultant, or with team development.

Levels of behaviour in FIRO®

FIRO assesses how a person typically behaves towards others and how that person wishes others would behave towards them. The tool evaluates an individual’s interpersonal style and whether this style is appropriate for the relationships in which they engage. Behaviour is assessed at three levels, reflecting what a person expresses compared to what they need.

The FIRO certification is available both online and in person, offering flexibility to suit your preferences and needs. The program emphasises the importance of experiential learning, helping you build confidence through hands-on practice and application of the FIRO assessment in real-world scenarios. No matter which format you select, the training is thoughtfully designed to cater to a variety of learning styles. As a participant you can expect opportunities for reflection, interactive exercises, group discussions, and engaging self-study components. In addition, the training schedule includes regular breaks to support your concentration and well-being. This balanced approach ensures that you remain focused and fully benefit from the practical skills and knowledge offered in the FIRO certification program.

The course is delivered by experienced FIRO practitioners who are both expert trainers and coaches to participants. During the course you will practice your feedback skills and receive feedback to build your toolkit and your confidence.

Practical information about the course

The certification spans 2 days. Price is £1,395.00 ex VAT, invoiced prior to course start. You can receive a 10% discount by registering together with a colleague or booking more than one course. Upon successful completion, all participants receive a lifelong certification. See all frequently asked questions here.

The training can also be tailored as an in-house course for organisations, with a 15% discount for a minimum of 3 participants – contact us for a non-binding offer.

INVOICING
An invoice will be sent at the point of registration on the course, with a 14-day payment deadline. All invoices are subject to VAT.

MATERIALS
Access to one set of official course-specific materials from The Myers-Briggs Company is included in the course fee.
For in-person courses, the materials are provided in hard-copy format at the course venue.
For online courses, materials are provided in digital format where available. 
For certain online courses, materials are only available in hard-copy format, or participants may choose hard-copy materials instead of digital materials. In these cases, hard-copy materials will be shipped to the participant, and the following handling and shipping charges apply:
- UK delivery: a fixed fee of £15 + VAT
- Delivery outside the UK: costs vary by location and are confirmed before dispatch

RESCHEDULING
A participant may transfer their booking to another available course date as follows: 
- More than 14 days before the course start date: no transfer fee will apply (non-refundable third-party costs, including catering, may be charged where applicable).
- Within 14 days of the course start date: a transfer fee equal to 25% of the full course fee will be charged.
All transfer requests must be made in writing and are subject to availability.

SUBSTITUTION OF PARTIPIPANT
Substitutions can be accepted without charge at any time (subject to any additional material costs) provided that the substitute fulfils the entrance requirements and has completed any pre-course study.
Where hard-copy materials have already been supplied, the original participant should, wherever possible, pass these materials directly to the substitute participant. Additional charges may apply where replacement materials are required.

CANCELLATION
- Up to 28 days before the course start date: cancellations may be made at no charge. 
- Between 28 days and 7 days before the course start date, 50% of the course fee will be payable.
- Less than 7 days before the course start date or in the case of non-attendance: the full fee will be payable.
Cancellation requests must be made in writing.
Should a rescheduled course place later be cancelled by the participant, the above cancellation terms apply to the original course start date.
Human House reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, change the venue, or change the delivery format of a course where reasonably necessary. In the event of any such change, the participant may reschedule the booking to an alternative date. If no alternative dates are suitable, a refund will be issued. Human House shall not be liable for any travel, accommodation or other indirect costs arising from any such change.

PERSONAL DATA
Human House and The Myers-Briggs Company will process personal information to provide course materials, maintain certification records, and grant access to learning and assessment systems where applicable. By registering for a course, you acknowledge and agree that relevant personal data may be shared between Human House and The Myers-Briggs Company where necessary for these purposes.
By registering for the course, you hereby permit Human House:
- to retain personal data to maintain certification records, issue replacement certificates, and support you in relation to completed training,
- to contact you regarding relevant training, certification updates, and professional development opportunities.
Where required for the course, your MBTI®/FIRO®/TKI® (as applicable) results may be discussed and used as part of workshop activities and shared with other participants for learning and training purposes. 
You may request the deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.
