Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator Course

Session I: 3 days

The first session, you will gain an understanding of the purpose of the course and the underlying legislation. You will learn how safety and health work should be organised on a construction projects, including the developer’s responsibility for a systematic and preventive approach to safety and health in all phases of the construction. You will be introduced to methods and tools used in both planning and construction phases – such as site logs and health and safety plans. On day three, theory is linked to practice with a safety walk on a construction site.

Between sessions

Practice makes perfect! Between session I and II, you will complete a practical assignment relevant to your workplace.

Session II: 2 days

In the second session, we review and discuss the practical assignments, bridging theory and practice where you need it most. You will receive constructive feedback and peer discussion. We cover typical occupational safety and health risks in construction industry, including both physical and psychological risks. We also focus on how, in your role as a developer’s coordinator, you can use your leadership style and communication skills to motivate and promote a common culture of prevention throughout the project – from planning to completion.
