Psychosocial risks & well-being

A healthy psychosocial working environment is the glue that makes a team stick together, function, and work in a joint effort to give the business customers the best service.

At Human House we work with psychosocial working environment and wellbeing with three different levels in mind: the individual, the team, and management. Depending on the specific challenge, we focus on one or more of these levels and make use of relevant tools accordingly.

Employee: Achieve a better insight into your own personality

It is highly valuable to each employee to have knowledge and insight into their own personality and personal contributions to the workplace and the community surrounding it. However, it may be difficult to attain such knowledge. How do you get the best out of you? How do you protect yourself from stress and mental health problems? How are you perceived by your co-workers and people around you, and how do you avoid inappropriate communication in difficult or stressed situations affecting your teamwork, your work life in general, and your private life?

It is our experience that personality tests, personal feedback, and individual coaching can help individuals get a better understanding of their own personality, and their own personal preferences and give them a powerful insight into how they interact with the people surrounding them. We also offer consultancy in relation to work-related stress, harassment, sexism, and bullying as well as psychological debriefing following traumatic or intense events – both for individuals who have been directly implicated, as well as for colleagues and leaders.

The team: Get a better understanding of the differences between us and use it to strengthen your teamwork

The success of any business or organisation is highly dependent on how the employees function in teams and groups and the quality of the interpersonal relationships and social environment. The psychosocial working environment is conceived differently from person to person because people are different and have different priorities and preferences.

Team development and a continuous focus on wellbeing in the workplace add to interpersonal understanding, team motivation and trust – and this sharpens the overall efficiency and performance of any team. It is however crucial that there is a healthy and sound starting point: are there any risks in relation to communication, conflicts, and culture in the group? These need to be addressed before it is possible to actually develop the team or group.

Leadership and management: Make sure your words and actions match

When it comes to culture and behaviour in the workplace, it is vital that management shows the direction. A leader not only has the right to lead, it is also their duty. To achieve success as a leader, you must have insight into your employees both as individuals and as part of a group and team. Furthermore, a leader must have insight into their own personality, their own influence on the team’s behaviour, culture, and communication.
